Memories of murders real story11/27/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Guillermo Del Toro also made an interesting observation about the film too, in the sexist society the film takes place in the one truly 'good' and dilligent police officer we see if the young woman who all the other characters pretty much dismiss out of term. But I don't think it's one I'm hyped to revisit. The umbrella scene was hard hitting, and the ending was fantastic. Add in how pretty much ever person they interview also seems to get off on it (bar the last suspect, who we're meant to be on the fence as to their innocence and guilt) and it just. I understand the need to have their testimony be confusing and their volcabulary to discuss what happened limited, and motivated by police brutality, but then it goes and has the character essentially getting off to a rape and murder. I don't think Bong Joon-Ho has ill intentions, but having the character who's essentially the victim of the story get excited and giddy over someone being raped and murdered really rubbed me the wrong way. Marking the first of many successful collaborations between four-time Oscar winner Bong Joon Ho and leading man Song Kang Ho, the film follows the paths of three increasingly desperate Memories of Murder tells the harrowing true. All this gives it a very grounded atmosphere. Rather the movie slowly builds it up which makes the final act hit hard. There is very little music played to artificially ante up the suspense. It doesn't glamorize the detectives or the suspects. In the process you grow fond of the 3 detectives all with with their own quirks. You get a very close look at the detectives POV as well as their investigation procedure. There are some hilarious moments within the film played with a very straight face. It's a very different kind of film to the detective movies made in Hollywood.įor one, it has a very distinct tone.
